David Wells was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game as the Tombstone Huckleberries outscored the Tampico Stogies 3
to 2.
The deciding run was scored by Tombstone in the 8th. Scott Podsednik laced a
one-base hit. After an out was recorded, Ichiro Suzuki stepped in and he
stroked a single. Suzuki then stole second base. After another out, Miguel
Cabrera came to the plate and was walked intentionally to load the bases.
Alberto Castillo stepped into the box and drew a walk scoring the run.
Tampico had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
The win went to Wells(3-3) who allowed 2 runs in the game. Ben Sheets(6-2)
took the loss. He surrendered 8 hits and no walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.
